Ama's Momento

"Heart-achingly thoughtful" - LA Times

Directed by Awu Chen

The Experience:

‘Ama’s Momento’ is a mixed reality museum dedicated to Taiwanese grandmother, Yoko Kung, who dreams of building an art museum to preserve Taiwanese culture.

Using a combination of physical installation, augmented reality, virtual reality, and projection mapping eleven students of various disciplines came together in Taiwan to preserve her story.

This year, Ama's Momento was exhibited at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts as part of Yoko Kung's collector exhibition, Reminiscences of the Younger Days. The exhibit seamlessly merged the virtual museum with the physical one, offering visitors a unique blend of traditional and digital art experiences.

The project resonated with audiences, inspiring them through the intergenerational story between Awu, the director and grandson, and Ama, the collector and grandmother, showcasing their shared journey of preserving family legacy through art.
